Instructions for Speakers

In order to ensure the smooth running of BS2009 here are a few helpful hints for those making oral presentations at the conference.

  1. Oral presentation slots at BS2009 will be 20 minutes long. This is to allow for:
    • a 15 minute presentation;
    • 5 minutes for questions.

  2. There are a large numbers of papers and sessions to be managed this year so please ensure that you keep to the 15 minute length - otherwise you may be asked by the session chair to wind-up your presentation if you exceed your alloted time.

  3. All presentations will need to be mailed to the conference organisers before the conference - details regarding this will be given shortly.

  4. Avoid including links to external websites/images in your presentations as this could cause problems with the University's anti-virus software and result in your presentation freezing!

  5. A laptop will be available in each room pre-loaded with the session presentations.

  6. All rooms used for presentations have a data projector and an overhead projector. All rooms, with the exception of G4, also have a visualiser.

  7. Please arrive at your allocated session in plenty of time (at least 30 mins before the session begins) and make yourself known to the session chair.
