Conference Registration Instructions

To register for the conference follow the step-by-step instructions below.

  1. click on "Register and Login" on the menu on the left-hand-side of the webpage

  2. enter your user name and password or select "Register New" to register with site

  3. click on "Register as a Participant"

  4. select your participation status

    regular - attending the conference but not an ibpsa member

    IBPSA - attending the conference and you are ibpsa member

    student - attending the conference and you are a registered student

    application day - attending the application day ONLY


  5. click on "proceed to step 2" at the bottom of the page

  6. if not selected click in the "BS2009 Conference" button

  7. if you are presenting more than one paper then specify the number of additional papers you need

    NOTE: one paper is included in the conference fee, so if you are presenting (for example) two papers than select "1" additional paper, if you are presenting three papers then select "2" additional papers

  8. if you require (free) web access while at the conference then select the "web access" box after reading the terms and conditions

  9. click on "proceed to step 3" at the bottom of the page

  10. specify which invoice address you require

    NOTE: you can use the address you used when registering with the website or select the "use different address" button and enter the invoice address you require

  11. select how you want to pay - click either the "bank transfer" or "fax credit card" buttons

  12. click on "proceed to step 4 (confirm registration)" at the bottom of the page

  13. check that the details are correct

    NOTE: if details are not correct then you can return to any step in the registration using one of the "return to step ..." buttons at the bottom of the page

  14. read the terms and conditions and check the "confirm" box

  15. click "register now"

  16. if you selected to pay using"fax credit card details" you'll see the form you need to fax to us
    select the "continue=>" link (NOT print page)
    then select "payment form to send to the organisers"
    select the "print page" link at the top of the page, fill in the details required on the page and fax it to +44141 552 5105


    if you selected to pay using"bank transfer" you'll see the bank transfer details at the top of the registration details

You should receive a confirmation e-mail shortly after your registration. If you do not receive this contact enquiries@bs2009.org.uk.

If you want to review your registration details (including bank transfer information or the credit card fax form) then click on the "invoice and confirmation of registration" link after logging in

Registration Terms and Conditions

Conference Fees: The registration fee includes conference attendance, proceedings on CD-ROM, lunches, coffee breaks, banquet, welcome party, Civic Reception and evening events. The registration fee is due on registration and must be paid within 7 days (but not later than 7 days before the starting day of the conference). Participation in the conference will be denied if full payment of the registration fee is not received.

Students: For Student Registration, please send a copy of your student ID card to Dr P. Strachan, either by fax to +44 141 552 5105, or by post to Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, 75 Montrose Street, Glasgow, G1 1XJ, Scotland, UK. Failure to do so will render you liable for the full registration fee.

Papers and Additional Papers: Each registrant is entitled to submit a single paper for inclusion in the conference proceedings and for presentation (oral or poster). Additional papers per registration are allowed on payment of a fee of £100 each (up to 2 additional papers maximum per author).

Accompanying Persons: The accompanying person’s registration fee includes the banquet, welcome party, Civic Reception and evening events but excludes conference attendance and proceedings.

Refund Policy: Notice of cancellation should be sent by post or fax to Dr P. Strachan (contact details above). If this is done before 15 June 2009, 80% of the conference fee will be refunded. There will be no refunds after this date. However, substitutions are allowed if notified by fax or post to Dr P Strachan prior to the start of the conference.

Conference Changes and Cancellation: The conference programme is subject to change. Payments will be refunded if the conference is cancelled by the organisers. In that case, the organisers will have no further liability to the registrant. Registrations remain valid if the conference has to be postponed.

Personal Belongings: The conference organisers cannot be held accountable for damage to or loss of personal belongings of participants.

Web Access: Participants using the University's internet facilities must abide by the University's Policy on the Use of Computing Facilities and Resources as approved by the University Court on 25th November 1997.
