Air TravelGlasgow Airport is about 15km from the University. At the moment there is no direct rail link so you'll need to take a taxi or the GlasgowFlyer bus (service 500), which runs between the Buchanan St Bus Station and the Airport (via the city centre) every 15 mins 24/7. The journey takes about 20-40 mins depending on traffic. An open return will cost (£6.50).
A taxi will cost ~£20-30. The taxi rank is located immediately in front of the terminal building.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport (mainly Ryanair flights) is about 40km from the city. Glasgow Prestwick served by its own railway station: click here for a short video giving more information. Trains operate every half hour (hourly on Sunday's) to/from Glasgow Central Station between the hours of 06:00 - 23:08. All passengers receive free or half price rail travel.
Prestwick is also served by Stagecoach Western Express Service X77 service to/from Buchanan St Bus Station, this is a direct service which stops outside the airport concourse.
Operating every hour from 0833 until 1933. (every 30 minutes at peak times from 0713-0813). Journey time is 50 minutes.
Edinburgh Airport is located some 70km east of Glasgow. Airlink 100 buses connect the airport to Edinburgh city centre (Waverley Bridge). This journey takes approximately 25 minutes. Nearby Waverley Station has trains runnning to Glasgow Queen Street Station (a 5 min walk from the University) every 15 minutes at peak times, the journey time is approximately 50 minutes. Rail Travel
Trains from London and the South and Glasgow Prestwick Airport arrive at Glasgow Central Station, which is about a 10 min walk from the University. Trains from Edinburgh and Northern/Eastern Scotland arrive at Glasgow Queen Street Station, which is about a 5 min walk from the University.
Road (Bus and Car)
Most long-distance buses (including buses from Edinburgh, London and most other major cities in the UK) and local buses to and from Glasgow terminate at Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station , which is about a 5 min walk from the University. The GlasgowFlyer bus to the Airport also leaves from here.
If you are travelling by car, there are excellent road links to the University Campus. Just follow the directions below - and download the maps for simple route planning. Remember to leave plenty of time for your journey, as traffic can be heavy at times.
From England and the south
Via the M6 and M74 (A74) motorways. Leave the M74 Jct 4 to join the M73 Jct 1. Leave the M73 Jct 2 to join the M8 Jct 8 westbound. Exit the M8 Jct 15 for the Campus.
From Stirling and the north
Via the M9, M80 (A80) and M8 motorways. Traffic from Fife should follow signs for the Kincardine Bridge and then join the M876. Leave the M8 Jct 15 for the Campus.
From Edinburgh and the east
Via the M8 motorway. East Lothian and Northumberland traffic on the A1 should take the A720 Edinburgh City By-pass to join the M8. Tyneside traffic should take the A69 Carlisle Road and join the M6 at Jct 44, the intersection with the A74 (M) northbound, then M73 and M8. Leave the M8 Jct 15 for the Campus.
Parking in the city centre
There are plenty of car parks throughout Glasgow city centre ranging in price depending on location and security. The National Car Park in Montrose Street is closest to the Campus and the Buchanan Galleries multi-storey car park is just a 5 minute walk away.
